Unbelievable...

"WASHINGTON -- The Senate voted Wednesday to open part of an Alaskan wildlife refuge to oil and gas drilling, with several lawmakers saying soaring gasoline prices highlighted the need to increase domestic energy production.

The vote in support of drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge was close -- 51-49. Further approvals will be required before exploration can begin. "

I can't believe this! (See articles, 1 & 2)

"But Bush has portrayed the exploration as critical to reducing U.S. dependence on foreign oil and stabilizing gasoline prices. "
R has worked in the oil industry for 30 years, and this is the biggest lie I have heard in a long time... Gas prices and the cost per barrel of oil have not kept in sync for several years. We are producing tons of oil, oil that is being stored while we buy oil from other countries.

" "Have we reached the point when it comes to America's energy security where we have no choice but to go into these areas that are so important and so pristine and engage in drilling and production techniques that will leave scars on the landscape forever?" asked Sen. Richard J. Durbin, D-Ill."

Obviously so.
